Cabaret Cannibale

At the "Théâtre des marronniers" it happened an original show during the month of March, according to the Grand-Guignol repertoire. It was a serie of short plays which, in the end oh 19th century, frightened the audience. In this adaptation, we can notice a reference to the famous actress of the genre : Paula Maxa who was specialist in the art to die ! She played all the conceivable manner to die.

Nowadays, all these deathes are very grotesque and look more funny than terrible. The company insist in this gap : after every scene, the « dead » gets up at sight and comes explain us the tricks used in the scene : a knife blade in plastic, blood pockets...

For my part, it was very interesting assisting at this show because the Grand Guignol repertoire is very unknowed and not much play  nowadays. Moreover, the actors were very good and in collusion with the audience. At last, the « Théâtre des Marronniers » is a favourable place for this type of representations because is a theater of 50 places so the audience is very closed with the action.
